Two men, one vision: Julio Bouchon from Chile; David Nieuwoudt from South Africa, a common project: Longaví. The brand, funded in 2012, draws the spirit and the legends of two different continents, uniﬁed by winemaking tradition and friendship. Julio Bouchon is the producer; David, owner of one of South Africa’s most prestigious wineries, is the winemaker. Together, they pursue their goal to reﬂect the deep diversity of Chilean wines with freshness and personality . The vineyards are cultivated following the organic standards while respecting the natural ecosystem, the soil fertility and the vigor of the vines, which in most cases are between 80 and 120 years old: an amazing legacy that Chile can show off to the world.
The Mondavi family wine history began with Cesare Mondavi, an Italian immigrant who established a grape growing business in California during Prohibition. For four generations, the Mondavi family has crafted world-class wines in the Napa Valley, helping establishing California as the premier wine-growing region it is today. In 1999, Michael Mondavi, together with his wife Isabel, his son Rob Jr., and his daughter Dina, purchased an incredibly wild piece of land in Atlas Peak and planted the Animo vineyard, which gave birth to the Michael Mondavi Family Estate. Today, the estate comprised of Animo and Oso Vineyards, two distinct sites with unique conditions and terroirs. The goal of the Mondavi Family is to create family-owned, heritage driven portfolio of small production, artisanal wines.
LIBERATED FROM ALCOHOL
Moa Gürbüzer, a Swedish therapist and social worker, has been noticing throughout her carrier that alcohol plays a key role in our society and that its effects can be harmful for people and their families. This made her start questioning everything about social habits, and the results revealed the necessity of reforming the old alcohol-related customs. In 2020, after collaborating with Richard Juhlin on a non-alcoholic sparkling wine, Moa started a new adventure creating her own alcohol-free brand: Oddbird – wines liberated from alcohol. Basically, the liberation from alcohol stands as a metaphor for the individual freedom of choice between with or without alcohol, between following the usual social drinking habits or opting for a healthier social opportunity.
Bodegas Iranzo is one of Spain's oldest estate bottled wineries, with evidence of vineyard production dating back to 1335. The estate was also
one of the first wineries in Europe to receive the organic certification, built in 1915 by the engineer Rafael Janini, who was the director of the Enology and Viticulture Station of Requena. The vineyards are located in Cañada Honda (DO Valencia), a devoted area or vine growing thanks to its peculiar conditions: calcareous sandy soils, low rain precipitation, sun exposure, and high altitude (between 800 and 900 meters above the Mediterranean sea).
The noble Almásy family has been residing in Bernstein castle since 1892. The family has a history of adventurers, discoverers and grand hosts. Family member László Almásy, a renowned explorer of his time achieved world fame through being the main character in the book and movie „The English Patient“. The Almásy family together with wine expert Sarah Heller MW curated a collection of outstanding wines from Austria and neighbouring countries, which once belonged together. The collection reimagines the wine cellar that might have greeted guests to Bernstein Castle had the territory never been divided. It includes regional classics like bright, bracing Grüner Veltliner and juicy Zweigelt, Tokaj grapes and much more!
In 1999, Mirco and Gloria Gottardi decided to the plant their dreams, which brought to life an abandoned land on the Bassano hillside, where more than 60,000 vines and 1,000 olive trees found the perfect conditions to grow vigorous. The bond with nature, and its continuous becoming, inspired the rediscovery and the enhancement of the territory through its fruits and motivated the willingness to communicate it to the world through wine. Contrà Soarda rises on a unique environment, related to volcanic soil, to the constant sun exposure, to the temperature ﬂuctuation phenomenon originated by the cold northern winds coming from Valsugana Valley. The respect, the interaction and the enhancement of the peculiarities of the soil, the microclimate, and the exposition reveals themselves as the fundamental variables of an authentic viticulture and its identity.
Balthasar Ress is a family-owned wine estate founded 1870 in Hattenheim, Rheingau. Thanks to the fast developments brought by the fourth and fifth generation, with Mr Stefan and Christian Ress, the estate is today one of the leading wineries in the region and in Germany, and VDP member since 1989. Balthasar Ress wines reflect what the different soil types, microclimate and winemaking philosophy: wines with character and potential. Since 2010, the estate have slowly and continuously approached the organic viticulture, which made them today the biggest organic certified estate in the region of Hessen.
